MCA Name Approval
What is the Reserve Unique Name (RUN) service?
The web service allows companies to reserve new names or change the current name using the Reserve Unique Name (RUN). This lets users know if the desired company name is available. Before the introduction of the RUN service, company name applications were handled in the INC-1 form. These applications previously required at least two digital signatures and a Director Identification Number (DIN).
However, with the RUN web form it is now much easier to reserve a company name and can be done without a digital signature. The purpose of the RUN e-form is that anyone who wants to reserve or change a company name should apply using the RUN service. The Central Registration Center (CRC) examines the applications, and legal rules must be followed when proposing a name, to ensure that it is not unacceptable according to the relevant laws and directives.
After the validity of the reserved company names is confirmed, CRC provides name reservation for the following names:
- 20 days from approval if the name is for a new company
- 60 days from approval if it involves changing the name of an existing company
The following items are required to reserve a name using the RUN service:
- MCA account
- Assignment of Corporate Identity Number (CIN) to existing companies
- Promoted name
- Useful document attached to the proposed name.
