Importer Exporter Code (IEC Code) Registration

Engaging in international trade opens up vast opportunities for Indian businesses. The Importer Exporter Code (IEC), issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Ministry of Commerce, is essential for companies looking to access global markets. The IEC is critical for importers in managing customs clearance and facilitating payments to foreign entities, while exporters use it to ship goods and receive payments from international clients.

At gsttaxwala, we simplify the process of obtaining the IEC certificate and import-export license, ensuring businesses can easily enter the international trade arena.

Validity of IEC Code

The IEC registration is permanent and valid for a lifetime. Once registered, businesses are not required to renew, update, or meet any further compliance requirements, making the process hassle-free for both importers and exporters. It is recommended that all exporters and importers obtain an IEC after incorporation, as no additional filings are necessary.

Documents Required for IEC Code Registration

To obtain the IEC certificate, businesses must submit the following scanned documents:

1. Proof of Establishment/Incorporation/Registration

Depending on the type of business entity, any one of the following documents must be submitted:

3. Proof of Firm’s Bank Account

  • Bank Certificate

Additional Requirements

  • An active Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) or Aadhaar linked to a member of the firm for application submission.
